Yes, Desean Jackson has had his troubles staying healthy over the course of his career. But he might be an intriguing option for the Carolina Panthers if wide receiver Curtis Samuel leaves in free agency as expected.

Last season proved that having three dependable weapons in the passing game is essential in Joe Brady’s scheme. The offensive coordinator didn’t end up getting a head coaching job after a bunch of interviews and although there is every likelihood this changes next year, the Panthers need to make the most out of his presence while they can.

Robby Anderson came to Carolina with a deep-threat tag last spring before proving he was capable of so much more.

Jackson’s ability to stretch the field has been there for all to see during his career. So it would allow the speedy wideout to work on the outside and give the former New York Jet more options to make a difference all over the field.

Anderson showcased his ability to get open quickly off the line of scrimmage in 2020, something that played a leading role in a career year for the receiver. Jackson might be a little long in the tooth now and not the most dependable in the world. But he still has enough tools to take some attention away from the two best options on the depth chart providing the three-time Pro Bowler can stay healthy.

If the Panthers can also get themselves a productive pass-catching tight end to boot, it would ensure that minimal momentum was lost in the event Samuel decides on a big-money move elsewhere.
