Which free agents could be classed as dream targets for the Carolina Panthers in 2021 ahead of what is expected to be a crucial few weeks?

Now that the Carolina Panthers have some extra money at their disposal, it could see the franchise become bigger players in the free-agent market. New general manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Matt Rhule have probably already drawn up their list of possible veteran recruits for the annual frenzied period of activity, with the pool of players available set to be even bigger this year due to the current financial restrictions.

The salary-cap is coming down to somewhere in the region of $180-185 million thanks to COVID-19 revenue losses. Some significant sacrifices are going to be made across the league to comply with this figure and talented individuals might consider taking less money on shorter deals before the financial resources increase once again next time around providing there are no further complications.

Carolina needs to strike while the iron is hot as they look to stake their claim for a postseason berth in 2021. There is a solid young core for the Panthers to build around, so if the decision-makers can get their recruitment right this spring, it’s going to make a massive difference.

Carolina Panthers could be an attractive destination.

Finding a long-term solution at quarterback is priority No. 1. If the Panthers can land someone like Deshaun Watson for a bounty of draft picks and a couple of current roster members with high upside, it would instantly make them a more attractive destination for free agents. So the sooner this is sorted out, the better.

Free agency is always a dramatic time for fans, players, and staff members alike. But considering how much personnel movement there’s going to be before OTAs roll around, it’s something everyone associated with the NFL won’t want to take their eyes off for a second.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at five free agents who could be classed as dream targets for the Panthers in 2021.
