Restricted free-agent Daniel Carlson had an impressive 2020 season for the Las Vegas Raiders during their inaugural campaign in the desert. As mentioned earlier, the 26-year old kicker tied for the most points in the NFL after his career got off to a rocky start when he was cut by the Minnesota Vikings after missing three crucial field goals against their bitter NFC North rival, the Green Bay Packers.

The mark of 144 points also set a single-season franchise record, previously held by Pro-Bowl kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who became one of the faces of the franchise for a brief period.

In 2020, Carlson made 33 of 35 field goals and 45 of 47 extra-point tries. And like Younghoe Koo, he was perfect on kicks of at least 50 yards.

The fourth-year kicker is also better than Koo at touchback percentage, but at 63 percent he’s still not in Joey Slye’s class judging by the level of production for the Carolina Panthers in this area last season.

There’s no doubt the Raiders are hoping that Carlson becomes the next “Seabass” for the silver and black. If he isn’t able to work out a deal in Las Vegas, the Panthers could bank on Carlson as their future solution at kicker.
