Wyatt Davis – OG

The Carolina Panthers should be looking for two new starting guards this offseason. Chris Reed and John Miller simply didn’t do enough to provide the confidence they can assume the roles long-term and with both players out of contract this spring, there will never be a better time for a complete overhaul once again.

Adding a veteran who can hit the ground running will be crucial. But this is a deep class for interior offensive linemen and Wyatt Davis might be the best of the bunch.

Davis enjoyed a prolific career with Ohio State and is a sure-fire plug-and-play starter at the next level. His power at the point of attack is eye-catching, to put it mildly, and he plays with ruthless aggression that is going to go down very well with NFL scouts during the evaluation process.

Simply put, Davis is your stereotypical mauler who can fit into any blocking scheme.

Slotting him alongside stud right tackle Taylor Moton is an enticing prospect that the Panthers should strongly consider. But whether they’ll be in a position to select the prospect is another matter entirely.

Considering Davis at No. 8 overall is a reach. However, if the Panthers end up trading down for more selections then he comes into play.

There is also a slim chance of Davis dropping out of the first round, which would be a dream come true if he was around at No. 39.
