It remains to be seen whether the Carolina Panthers can hold onto Mike Davis once the free-agent frenzy begins. The veteran running back performed extremely well in Christian McCaffrey’s absence in 2020 to go over 1,000 all-purpose yards for the first time in his career, which could see a few teams looking in his direction in pursuit of boosting depth at the position. Considering how tight money is despite the Panthers making some significant cuts, it is going to take some common ground between both parties to keep Davis on the books. They do have Trenton Cannon and Rodney Smith, and Reggie Bonnafon ready to fight for additional reps behind McCaffrey, but getting another option with intriguing capabilities would be a smart move by the front office. D’Onta Foreman looked the part in a rotational role with the Tennessee Titans last season after arriving from the Houston Texans. He gained 95 rushing yards and six first downs from 22 carries behind All-Pro Derrick Henry, which will serve him well ahead of becoming a restricted free agent this offseason. There is a lot to like where Foreman is concerned. He is aggressive, can gain hard yards between the tackles, and has proven to be incredibly elusive in tight windows of space. Providing the Titans don’t offer him an extension with the promise of more involvement, Foreman would be a good option for the Panthers and one that should be discussed, at the very least.
