With Curtis Samuel heading out of the door barring some sort of miracle in free agency, the Carolina Panthers could use another dynamic weapon to put on a passing attack that also consists of D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and the impending return of running back Christian McCaffrey.

The former Ohio State star will be sorely missed if he does depart for pastures new and big money. So this would be a telling need to ensure a significant amount of momentum isn’t lost.

Some like John Brown would fit into this category. The wide receiver was released by the Buffalo Bills after being somewhat underused considering the sort of skill set he brings to the table, so this would be an ideal replacement for Samuel if he departs as expected.

The former Pittsburgh State standout has gone over 1,000 yards receiving twice during his career, with the latest coming in 2019 before featuring in just eight games last time out due to injury. Brown is a difference-maker when firing on all cylinders and it appears to be a good scheme fit if the wideout eventually ended up in Carolina.

Brown does most of his best work out of the slot, which the Panthers will need in no uncertain terms if Samuel walks. He is a big play waiting to happen thanks to impressive elusiveness in open space, so Carolina could do far worse than look in his direction when it’s time to draw up their shortlist of free-agent candidates who could come in and help from the word go.
