3 reasons Deshaun Watson should sign-off on Panthers trade
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers have a loaded offense
One of the primary reasons why Deshaun Watson would probably give the green light to a possible trade is the abundance of offensive weapons on the Carolina Panthers. This is something the quarterback simply didn’t have in 2020 thanks to the Houston Texans giving away All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals and with Will Fuller also set to depart in free agency, it leaves options incredibly slim.
Nobody can blame Watson for wanting out. His opinion on the organization’s direction clearly has no weight with team owner Cal McNair and considering the talent currently on the Panthers, it might see the former Clemson star’s production even increase next time around.
Carolina has two 1,000-yard receivers in D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson, who emerged as one of the NFL’s most prolific receiving duos last season. Whether Curtis Samuel sticks around or not is up for debate. But there is also the small matter of Watson potentially linking up with the league’s best dual-threat running back in Christian McCaffrey to consider.
Providing the Panthers can get their hands on a consistent tight end in the coming weeks and also solidify their protection, it would be a tremendous situation for Watson to be walking into and the move is sure to transform expectations across the organization from the moment this potential trade is finalized.
