4 best Carolina Panthers decisions during 2021 free agency so far
By Dean Jones
Getting David Moore on the cheap
As stated previously, Curtis Samuel will be missed by the Carolina Panthers to a certain extent. However, their decision to find a ready-made replacement at the earliest possible opportunity was a tremendous bit of business by the organization.
Scott Fitterer looked towards his old employers for a new recruit, with David Moore giving their passing options a huge shot in the arm from the Seattle Seahawks. The former seventh-round pick brings a lot of the same traits to Carolina as Samuel and with $1.5 million guaranteed over the next two years, one would be hard-pressed to find a more team-friendly deal during free agency so far.
Moore can impact the game on deep routes, works out of the slot extremely well, and can also make his presence felt out of the backfield if required.
Sound familiar?
Another thing that no doubt attracted Carolina to Moore is his dependability. He recorded a catch success rate of 75.4 percent in 2020, which was the highest of his career by a considerable margin and further proof that the best is yet to come.
Adding Moore to a passing attack that is loaded with weapons has the scope to take his game up a notch, which would offset Samuel’s departure in no uncertain terms.
