Carolina Panthers face a long wait for potential Deshaun Watson trade
By Dean Jones
The Carolina Panthers could be waiting some time if they are intent on landing quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans this offseason.
Things are taking a concerning twist regarding Deshaun Watson this offseason. The Carolina Panthers have made no secret of their desire to land the quarterback via trade from the Houston Texans for a king’s ransom. But there is now a significant shadow over the potential deal that could set the organization’s plans back considerably.
Watson is being sued by four more women who accuse him of sexual assault and harassments, which brings the number of civil suits in this ever-developing situation to seven. These have not yet been reported to the Houston Police Department despite lawyer Tony Buzbee’s claims to the contrary in a press conference on Friday.
"“At this time, HPD is unaware of any contact between HPD and Houston attorney Tony Buzbee regarding the allegations contained in his recently filed lawsuits and no incident reports regarding these allegations have been filed in our jurisdiction.”"
There promises to be much more in the way of news regarding this topic in the not-too-distant future. But it has the potential to completely change the landscape where the Panthers are concerned.
They have made no secret of their desire to go after Watson if the Texans eventually start taking calls. Carolina is reported to be “locked-in” on making the former first-round pick their franchise player at the earliest possible opportunity, even though this situation might mean they have to wait a little bit longer to acquire him.
