3 reasons Morgan Fox will be a big hit on the Carolina Panthers
By Dean Jones
Morgan Fox was one of the more notable free-agent signings by the Carolina Panthers, and the defensive lineman is sure to be a big hit for the franchise.
It’s been a quietly impressive period of recruitment over the first fortnight of free agency for the Carolina Panthers. General manager Scott Fitterer has been shrewd with the money available and brought in some high-impact players that can offset recent departures and possibly even be an upgrade if they hit the ground running.
This is especially evident on the defensive side of the ball. Carolina made great strides in this particular area of the field in 2020 and there is every chance Phil Snow’s unit will be a real force to be reckoned with providing the new arrivals all reach expectations.
One eye-catching acquisition that has gone somewhat overlooked is Morgan Fox. The defensive lineman signed a two-year, $8.1 million deal that included a $3.01 million signing bonus and a little more than $5 million guaranteed. This comes following a hugely successful spell with the Los Angeles Rams, where he put up some outstanding numbers operating alongside arguably the NFL’s best defender in Aaron Donald.
This is a low-risk, high reward pickup by the Panthers, who are looking to make the necessary strides and become a realistic postseason challenger in 2021. Although some questions remain on offense and the quarterback position, their defense should be something that keeps them extremely competitive, at the very least.
With this in mind, we picked out three reasons why Fox will be a big hit in Carolina next season and beyond.
