4 big trades the Carolina Panthers could still make this offseason
By Dean Jones
Zach Ertz – TE
The fact Zach Ertz is still on the Philadelphia Eagles indicates they feel a team will still come in with a trade offer for the tight end. Although the Carolina Panthers picked up a notable pass-catching presence with the signing of Dan Arnold in free agency, they could still use a more prolific option across the middle to further assist their chances of progress.
Ertz has accumulated more than 6,000 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns throughout his career. So he represents a significant upgrade on anything Carolina currently has at its disposal.
Philadelphia isn’t going to be looking for substantial compensation considering the direction they’re currently heading, so this could end up being a bargain for the Panthers if the team chose to go in this particular direction.
It’s clear that Ertz is ready for a fresh start. He all-but said goodbye to the Eagles’ fanbase following the 2020 season and providing the former Stanford standout rids himself of the injury problems that restricted him to 11 games last season, it is a chance worth taking if the price is right.
Adding a high-caliber player like Ertz to a passing attack that also includes D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, David Moore, and Christian McCaffrey would be a mouth-watering proposition that could be worth its weight in gold.
