8 former Carolina Panthers still looking for a new team in 2021
By Dean Jones
Pharoh Cooper – WR/KR
Another former Carolina Panthers player who has yet to find a new home in free agency is Pharoh Cooper. The versatile offensive weapon didn’t manage to carve out a role for himself in Joe Brady’s passing game – which had plenty of mouths to feed despite the long-term absence of Christian McCaffrey. But the All-Pro did manage to produce some eye-catching moments in the return game.
Cooper has some unique skills that will ensure he gets another opportunity somewhere. However, with this year’s NFL Draft class being another incredibly deep one for wide receivers who can also assist on special teams, it might result in the player having to wait a little while longer yet.
Rasul Douglas – CB
Despite FanSided’s national NFL reporter Matt Lombardo stating that a strong market was developing for Rasul Douglas, the cornerback is still a free agent. The Carolina Panthers don’t appear to be bringing him back – although that could change if they think his early season performances warrant another one-year contract.
Douglas did regress slightly as the campaign wore on, which was concerning. With Corn Elder now part of the Detroit Lions, the Panthers are devoid of any real depth behind Donte Jackson and this needs solving at the earliest possible opportunity.
