Morgan Fox – Carolina Panthers DL

  • Free-agent signing grade – B+

Losing Efe Obada to the Buffalo Bills in free agency and cutting ties with Kawann Short and Zach Kerr leaves the Carolina Panthers desperately thin at the defensive tackle spot. Derrick Brown is an absolute stud in the making, but the addition of Morgan Fox provides the team with a three-technique presence who put up some eye-catching numbers playing alongside Aaron Donald in 2020.

Fox will get the chance to build on this positive momentum in Carolina. Judging by the amount of pass-rushing weapons on the front seven that also warrant considerable attention, the player should get plenty of space to work in moving forward.

Matt Amendola – Carolina Panthers K

  • Free-agent signing grade – C

There is something about the Panthers and kickers built like linebackers. Matt Amendola certainly looks the part, of that there is little doubt. And it’s clear that Carolina thinks a lot of him judging by their decision to sign the player to compete with Joey Slye.

The current No. 1 went through his fair share of struggles in 2020, which included some crucial kicks missed with the game on the line from a long distance. Carolina showed a tremendous amount of faith in Slye by giving him a new deal shortly after the season, but he’ll have to work to be atop the depth chart by the time competitive action rolls around once again.
