Rasul Douglas – Former Carolina Panthers CB

The Carolina Panthers are really short of cornerback options heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. They haven’t addressed this need so far outside of bringing in Rashaan Melvin on board, with slot specialist Corn Elder joining the Detroit Lions this week after he impressed with more responsibility on his shoulder last time out.

Another free-agent veteran at the position that has yet to find a new home is Rasul Douglas, who made a big contribution when he was signed off the waiver wire after failing to make the 53-man roster of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Douglas was assured in coverage from the word go opposite Donte Jackson, which was needed considering the former LSU star’s struggles with a toe injury all the way up to the bye week. However, his clear regression down the stretch gave plenty of cause for concern and it’s no surprise to see Carolina explore other avenues before going back to the former third-round pick out of West Virginia.

According to FanSided’s national NFL insider Matt Lombardo, there was set to be a strong market for Douglas. This hasn’t resulted in a concrete offer as yet, so if the Panthers feel like he can benefit from a full offseason as part of the organization, they might explore the possibility once the draft concludes.
