Dazz Newsome – North Carolina

If the Carolina Panthers want to look a little closer to home for another wide receiver, then they could do far worse than cast an eye in Dazz Newsome’s direction. The multi-dimensional weapon has a lot of the same traits possessed by Curtis Samuel – who is no longer around – so providing they can build him up gradually then this would be a tremendous pick up in the later rounds.

Newsome starred for North Carolina in 2020 and clearly benefitted from improved distribution coming his way courtesy of Sam Howell, who is a leading contender to be the No. 1 overall selection in 2022. Having two stud running backs and a prominent wideout on the outside in Dyami Brown also helped, but he’d be walking into a similar situation on the Panthers thanks to the weapons at their disposal.

The prospect can impact a game in plenty of ways that should make a smooth transition to the pro ranks. Newsome is adept on the outside, in the slot, or even taking carries out of the backfield should the opportunity arise. So it would be a huge surprise if one or more teams didn’t take a keen interest in him during the all-important draft weekend.

Newsome is also a polished kick returner, which will also help maximize his impact. This would be a popular pick within Carolina’s loyal fanbase and his dynamic approach would make him a favorite in no time at all.
