3 things Sam Darnold must do better after Carolina Panthers trade
By Dean Jones
Getting the Carolina Panthers to believe
There hasn’t been a lot to shout about where the Carolina Panthers and their quarterbacks are concerned in recent years. Cam Newton’s struggles with injury were there for all to see before his controversial release, with the likes of Kyle Allen, Will Grier, Teddy Bridgewater, and P.J. Walker not exactly what’s been required if the team wants to be considered as a legitimate postseason contender sooner rather than later.
Whether Sam Darnold can fare any better, only time will tell. However, after years of languishing in mediocrity, getting everyone associated with the organization believing again would be a good place to start.
This is something the player failed to do in New York. The Jets’ fanbase is notoriously hard to please and although the situation wasn’t exactly a good one to be walking into, his performances on the field didn’t do enough to convince their rabid supporters he was worthy of the No. 3 overall selection.
It won’t take the Panthers long to figure out what they have in Darnold. Expecting miracles right away might not be prudent, so steady progression and a clear rise in confidence would be a solid foundation from which to build.
As stated previously, Darnold has everything in place to succeed in Carolina. If he can’t get it done here, then a starting chance won’t come easy again, so getting belief back both personally and across the franchise is absolutely pivotal.
