4 free agents that could let Scott Fitterer go with BPA in the draft

The Carolina Panthers brought in some tremendous additions on the defensive side of the ball, with the likes of Morgan Fox, Haason Reddick, and Denzel Perryman sure to solidify the front seven in 2021. However, the departures of Zach Kerr and Kawann Short ahead of time means they are now a little bit depleted on the interior as a result.
This isn’t expected to be the deepest class for defensive tackles, so the Panthers would need to strike gold with an exciting college recruit who could come in and make an immediate impression. If the team is also looking for additional help from a veteran on the free-agent market, then a player like DaQuon Jones could be an enticing option.
The former fourth-round pick performed well for the Tennessee Titans last season without doing enough to earn an extension. Jones demonstrated solid production against the run and got after the quarterback when the opportunity arose.
Carolina currently has Derrick Brown, Bravvion Roy, and Fox as their current options. So it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that more will be needed to get them over the hump.
Jones might be willing to settle for a reduced deal in the short-term given the current financial predicament across the league. If he could replicate last season’s form, it would be a significant bargain for the Panthers.
