3 realistic targets for Carolina Panthers QB Sam Darnold in 2021

Build back confidence
After the last three years on the New York Jets, it’s going to be a gradual process for Sam Darnold. An immediate turnaround in fortunes isn’t going to happen overnight, so it’s important that the quarterback build up confidence gradually in pursuit of finally living up to his potential.
That will be easier said than done. There is just no telling what his experience at MetLife Stadium has to do Darold from a confidence standpoint and it won’t take long to find out whether the damage is irreversible.
The Carolina Panthers are looking to mount a surprise postseason push next season if everything clicks into place. They have the talent, but much will depend on just how well Darnold responds to what is sure to be a fantastic opportunity for the former No. 3 overall selection.
Carolina’s loyal fanbase is getting tired of cheering losing football. Their Super Bowl 50 appearance is now a distant memory and if things start trending on a downward curve with Darnold under center, Bank of America Stadium is going to be an uncomfortable place to play.
Supporters should be realistic where their new signal-caller is concerned. Darnold has all the intangibles needed to become a starting-caliber quarterback. But considering everything that transpired with the Jets, he might be a work in progress initially until some self-esteem is restored.
