Another player who might be facing a wait to find a team for 2021 is Tre Boston. The safety was cut loose by the Carolina Panthers just one year removed from signing a three-year extension, which was down in no small part to a series of lackluster displays that were a far cry from what we saw from the player in 2019.
Boston was a hugely influential figure off the field, with his vibrant personality a big hit in Carolina’s locker room. However, that counts for nothing if it isn’t matched by production when it matters most and those in power ultimately came to the conclusion that the North Carolina product isn’t reliable at this juncture.
Players like Boston always get signed elsewhere at some stage. He has too much experience and there is also the potential of a bounce-back campaign in a different environment. However, this is now a little late in the day before the 2021 NFL Draft and the chances of him landing elsewhere before then now appear slim.
This isn’t Boston’s first rodeo. He knows how the business works and what’s important right now is finding the right fit rather than looking for a megabucks deal that simply won’t arrive in the current climate.
