4 former Panthers players who will get signed after the draft

Kawann Short – Former Carolina Panthers DT
Even though Kawann Short was released prior to the official start of free agency by the Carolina Panthers, the defensive tackle still remains on the proverbial scrapheap despite some reported interest in his services. The Pro Bowler has endured some torrid luck with injuries – which restricted him to five games over the last two seasons – so teams are being more than a little wary about signing him considering his lack of dependability.
Short has earned a significant amount of money during his career and got a pretty hefty payoff from the Panthers when they released him. The veteran should be fresh and raring to go providing there are no further complications from a health standpoint, so if there is still something left in the tank it could end up being a shrewd move for a contending team looking for veteran depth.
This isn’t considered to be the deepest NFL Draft class for interior linemen, which puts Short in a better position than most in pursuit of a new team in the coming weeks. There is also a chance the Panthers bring him back on a reduced deal should the opportunity arise, which would make sense considering their current lack of options to put alongside Derrick Brown.
Short won’t get a better chance to test himself in a new setting than this. But only time will tell as to just where that will be.
