Jaelon Darden – WR (North Texas)

Don’t let Jaelon Darden’s size fool you, the prospect is a stone-cold killer when it comes to impacting a game from an offensive standpoint. Although he’s gone relatively overlooked throughout the evaluation process, the penny might be starting to drop for some teams considering the hype he’s generated over the last couple of weeks which should ensure the wide receiver is taken in the mid-rounds.

Darden is listed at 5-foot-9. But his production for North Texas in 2020 simply cannot be ignored.

In just nine games, the wideout hauled in 74 receptions for 1,190 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns, producing some electrifying moments along the way. Darden’s size is an obvious worry in the more physical world of the NFL, but his ability to create separation quickly could make him a missing piece to any scheme’s puzzle at the next level.

Another area where Darden thrives is creating yards after the catch, which is something the Carolina Panthers need following Curtis Samuel’s departure. They are also looking for a new kick returner after opting not to bring back Pharoh Cooper, which is another role the player could fill.

Darden is elusive, has assured hands, and is a big play waiting to happen. This might be a luxury pick, but one well worth considering for Carolina once more important needs have been addressed.
