D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers WR

Another Carolina Panthers player who might be contemplating a switch in jersey numbers moving forward is D.J. Moore. The talented wide receiver is one of the NFL’s most prolific – yet underrated – wide receivers and yet another highly productive campaign in 2021 is sure to see a major contract coming his way next year if it doesn’t beforehand.

Moore burst onto the scene as an electrifying college prospect at Maryland and hasn’t looked back. The wideout accumulated 146 receptions, 2,027 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns over a three-year period that eventually saw the Panthers take him in the first round back in 2018.

Much like Donte Jackson, Moore also wore No. 1 in college. This is a number that is still sacred in Carolina thanks to Cam Newton, but the wideout did post a picture of him photoshopped wearing No. 2 on Twitter upon hearing the news regarding the rule change approval.

This would make a lot of sense. The number once worn by the ill-fated Jimmy Clausen could use a bit of good fortune, which Moore would no doubt provide considering the trajectory he’s been on throughout his brief career to date.

He managed to put up another 1,000-yard receiving season in 2020 despite chemistry issues with Teddy Bridgewater. So there could be even more to come from the wideout providing he his the ground running with new signal-caller Sam Darnold.
