Carolina Panthers round No. 3 targets

  • Chazz Surratt – LB (North Carolina)
  • Ben Cleveland – OG (Georgia)
  • Quincy Roche – DE/OLB (Miami)
  • Kelvin Joseph – CB (Kentucky)
  • Jay Tufele – DT (USC)

General manager Scott Fitterer is keen for the Carolina Panthers to have the sort of mindset of selecting the best player available at any stage. Realistically speaking, this simply cannot be done before vital positions need to be filled and if they can do this in the first two rounds, then the prospect becomes more of a possibility from Round 3 onwards.

Again, there could be some tremendous talents available at this juncture. Chazz Surratt out of North Carolina would be a significant addition to the second level who could learn behind the likes of Denzel Perryman and Jermaine Carter during his initial transition onto the rotation.

If the Panthers are still looking for a Day 1 starter at guard by this point, then Ben Cleveland might be someone to consider judging by his outstanding college career at Georgia. On the opposite side of the field, pass-rusher Quincy Roche displayed his athletic prowess in front of Carolina’s coaching staff at the Senior Bowl and it’s hard not to be impressed by the attributes he brings to the table.

Kelvin Joseph might not have the sort of experience normally associated with a potential NFL player. But his brief time on the field at cornerback for Kentucky was littered with memorable highlights that simply cannot be ignored and he might end up going a lot higher than this.

Carolina did sign DaQuan Jones to pair with defensive tackle Derrick Brown in 2020. But if Jay Tufele was still available here, he more than warrants a second look.
