5 NFL Draft targets in every round for the Carolina Panthers in 2021
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers round No. 4 targets
- Jaylen Twyman – DT (Pittsburgh)
- Dylan Moses – LB (Alabama)
- Dazz Newsome – WR (North Carolina)
- Israel Mukuamu – CB (South Carolina)
- Kendrick Green – OG (Illinois)
This is the area of the draft that separates the good teams from the great. Finding gems in the mid-to-late rounds is something Scott Fitterer developed a real talent for during his time with the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers are banking on their new general manager doing the same in a different environment.
If they managed to get their hands on Jaylen Twyman here, it would be a great start. The Pittsburgh defensive tackle has drawn comparisons to Aaron Donald – who also came from the same program – and although expecting the same level of impact is unrealistic, there is nothing to suggest the prospect cannot go on to have a fantastic NFL career.
Dylan Moses might go higher than this if his medical checks are alright, but this would be another solid option at this stage and one that brings some upside. The same applies to wide receiver Dazz Newsome, who is no stranger to the area having played his college football at North Carolina and has the same sort of multi-use possibilities the Panthers lost when Curtis Samuel signed for the Washington Football Team in free agency.
The lengthy Israel Mukuamu might be a real steal if he makes it down this far, with the versatility of Illinois offensive lineman Kendrick Green something Carolina sought heavily in their recruitment process last time out that proved so beneficial.
