5 possible Panthers targets who could go undrafted in 2021
By Dean Jones
Brennan Eagles – WR (Texas)
This year’s crop of wide receivers is another outstanding one. The Carolina Panthers held off drafting a wideout in 2020 on their way to a historic all-defense series of selections. But if they avoid the temptation of using one of the picks to bolster depth after losing Curtis Samuel to the Washington Football Team, then there might be an intriguing player or two in undrafted free agency.
Brennan Eagles is a huge body at 6-foot-4, which he needs to start putting to better use. The wideout was a bit-part player for the most part during his college career at Texas, bringing in 61 receptions for 1,026 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns over his three years with the Longhorns.
Eagles is never going to blow anyone away with elite athleticism. But he is superb in contested catch situations thanks to his superior size and this also makes him a force to be reckoned with in the red zone.
One area where Eagles does struggle is on short-to-intermediate routes. His long legs make it difficult for him to create separation quickly and his speed is not what is normally associated with a productive wideout at the next level.
With that being said, if Eagles ends up picking his own destination as an undrafted free agent, there should be a ton of offers coming his way.
