Round No. 6 (Pick No. 191)

Cornell Powell – WR (Clemson)

The Carolina Panthers is their pick acquired in the Teddy Bridgewater trade to give themselves another wide receiver option that ends the streak of the team not selecting Clemson players in recent drafts. Cornell Powell came relatively out of nowhere to have a fantastic campaign for the Tigers in 2020 and although this is a very deep class for wideouts once again, this could potentially represent some high value at this juncture.

Powell would be joining a receiving corps that consists of D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and David Moore among others. So he should get a ton of one-on-one opportunities under a dynamic offensive coordinator in Joe Brady.

Round No. 6 (Pick No. 222)

Kenny Yeboah – TE (Ole Miss)

Getting improved production from the tight end position is absolutely essential for the Panthers if they want to make a surprise playoff push next season. They did sign Dan Arnold in free agency – who could be a solid option – but getting a prospect with the physical attributes of Kenny Yeboah should also be considered at some stage during the three-day draft period.

Yeboah has worked with Matt Rhule before from their time together at Temple. He raised his game accordingly in the SEC in 2020 after transferring to Ole Miss and his pass-catching prowess across the middle and in the red zone is well worth considering here.

Round No. 6 (Pick No. 226)

Shaka Toney – DE/OLB (Penn State)

The Panthers choose to select yet a Penn State edge rusher for the second straight year by taking Shaka Toney with their final selection. The prospect outperformed potential first-round pick Jason Oweh on the Nittany Lions in 2020 but doesn’t seem to get anything like the same recognition, which might work in Carolina’s favor if they are targeting him with a late rounder.

Toney has eye-catching explosiveness and gets to the point of attack quickly. So if he can add a little more pass-rushing moves to his repertoire and improve against the run once he gets to the pros, then a productive career won’t be far behind.
