10 best fits for the Carolina Panthers on Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft
By Dean Jones
Hamsah Nasirildeen – S (Florida State)
The Carolina Panthers could use another young safety as a potential long-term partner for Jeremy Chinn moving forward. This is something they’ve held off on so far but there are still some eye-catching prospects there for the taking, with Hamsah Nasirildeen seemingly a great fit for the organization at this juncture.
Nasirildeen has the athleticism, versatility, and big play-making ability that really caught the eye during his time with the Seminoles. He is a tremendous tackler that plays the game physically and although there are some injury concerns that have caused him to drop, the prospect represents some quality value on Day 3.
Daviyon Nixon – DT (Iowa)
Perhaps getting another big body to use on Carolina’s defensive front is something the team is considering in the later rounds. One could argue that Daviyon Nixon is the best of those available and his ability to get after the quarterback from the interior is something that could be put to good use with a little more refinement to his game.
Nixon has eye-catching length, powerful hands, and enough explosiveness to make a real difference from the three-technique. The Panthers did bring in Morgan Fox to potentially fill this role in free agency, so there wouldn’t be much in the way of expectations on the former Iowa star right away.
Quincy Roche – DE/OLB (Miami)
Again, the Carolina Panthers have a wealth of pass-rushing options at their disposal. But they also have a ton of wide receivers and that didn’t stop them from taking a potential game-changer in the second round out of LSU by the name of Terrace Marshall Jr.
The point is, the Panthers are going with the best player available and Quincy Roche might be someone they are monitoring closely on Day 3. Carolina got the chance to work with the Miami product during their week at the 2021 Senior Bowl and if they liked his production and work ethic, it might see him drafted to the organization.
