How each third-round pick will impact the Carolina Panthers in 2021
By Will Burns
Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE
Tommy Tremble was a great pick for the Carolina Panthers in Round 3. The team has improved at the tight end spot this offseason, but adding the former Notre Dame standout gives them more depth and some potential at the position.
His impact should be felt mostly as a blocker in 2021, which is the best part of Tremble’s game. At the Fighting Irish in 2020, he posted the highest run-blocking grade for any tight end in the country according to Pro Football Focus.
Tremble has shown the ability to violently block and open up lanes in the running game. This will be appreciated by Christian Mccaffrey and recent acquisition Chuba Hubbard, who was yet another intriguing pick by the Panthers on Day 3.
Don’t let his blocking fool you though, Tremble can have an impact as a pass catcher too.
He has great athleticism for a tight end, posting a 4.63-second 40 yard dash time. During his time in college, Tremble was a little overlooked in the passing game but found ways to make plays when he got the ball.
The Panthers will look to work off this and develop him in this area in the coming years. Tremble will compete with Dan Arnold and Ian Thomas for reps right away, and has a good chance of getting snaps on running downs due to his elite blocking.
The Panthers have to be feeling ecstatic with all the moves and selections they made during the 2021 NFL Draft, which should stand them in good stead moving forward.
