3 reasons the Panthers should call Bobby McCain immediately

Leadership
This is still a young defense that will need some veteran leadership to steer them through some difficult moments. The Carolina Panthers have been blessed with this in abundance over the years with the likes of Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly, and Julius Peppers leading the charge. But those prolific players are long gone and others need to step up in their place.
Bobby McCain was a team captain on the Miami Dolphins and commanded the respect of the locker room. Head coach Brian Flores and others in power opted to go in a different direction that leaves the former fifth-round pick out of Memphis looking for a new place to call home, and there is little doubt he’d represent a significant upgrade on Juston Burris if the Panthers opted to go in this direction judging by what we saw from the player last season.
Adding a leader and strong communicator on the backend could potentially be the missing piece to the puzzle. But much will depend on the money involved as to whether this sort of move can come to fruition.
Perhaps this is what Carolina was waiting for.
Rather than take their chances of a college prospect who may or may not work out, biding their time for a release such as McCain’s might bring more instant impact to give the team a real shot in the arm in 2021.
