Jalen Wydermyer – TE (Texas A&M)

There is some hope that free-agent signing Dan Arnold can provide better production in the passing game that Ian Thomas managed to generate in the immediate aftermath of Greg Olsen’s departure to the Seattle Seahawks. Third-round pick Tommy Tremble will also be tasked with improving his pass-catching skills throughout his rookie campaign as he primarily focuses on blocking during his initial transition to the next level.

If Arnold doesn’t make the sort of impact needed, then the Carolina Panthers need to come up with a better long-term plan via the 2022 NFL Draft.

Someone like  Jalen Wydermyer certainly looks the part judging by his first two years turning out for Texas A&M in college. Providing there is definite progression as a junior, then it should result in the prospect generating a substantial amount of interest during the assessment process next year.

Wydermyer has tremendous athleticism and the ball skills to match. He uses his catch radius to his advantage and represents a matchup nightmare in the red zone which is another huge element to the player’s game that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Once again, there is so much football to be played over the course of the next 12 months that it’s hard to say which direction the Panthers will need to go with their draft selections in 2022. However, one would suspect prospects like Wydermyer are among those who the team will be scouting relentlessly over the campaign.
