Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers WR

  • Round No. 2 – Pick No. 59 overall

Drafting a wide receiver with one of their first picks was probably not in the Carolina Panthers’ original gameplan. However, when Terrace Marshall Jr. fell into their laps even after trading down, they rightfully altered their plan slightly to bring the playmaker on board.

Teams were obviously wary of the wideout’s injury history, which Matt Rhule even acknowledged in his call to Marshall after they chose him. Getting some inside information on this from former LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady was a tremendous asset to call upon in this situation and played a significant role in their decision to go in this particular direction.

This will be a significant steal if Marshall lives up to his billing. He is a supremely gifted receiver with all the athleticism, speed, and ball skills to make his presence felt all over the field, with his big frame also proving to be a supreme asset in the red zone.

Look for Marshall to accumulate his fair share of targets despite the presence of D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and David Moore on the depth chart. Brady will know exactly how best to use the rookie in his first season, so although his numbers won’t be anything like former teammate Justin Jefferson during his rookie campaign with the Minnesota Vikings, don’t be surprised if he emerges as a star in no time at all.
