There are obvious connections between the Carolina Panthers and the Buffalo Bills from a personnel standpoint. But that does not detract from what an incredibly tough game this will be for a young roster.
The Bills rose to prominence in a big way last season thanks to the performance of quarterback Josh Allen and the fact he finally had a No. 1 wide receiver in Stefon Diggs after he was acquired in a bombshell deal with the Minnesota Vikings. This proved to be a massive turning point for the talented signal-caller, with the team coming within one game of reaching the Super Bowl before going down to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite not getting the better of Patrick Mahomes and company in the AFC Championship game, it would be a surprise if the Bills weren’t right in the thick of things once again in 2021. They made some notable additions in free agency and the NFL Draft – keeping their core together in the process – which is sure to serve them well as they aim to go one better next time around.
This will be a significant test for the Panthers and one they will do well to get anything out of. Buffalo is one of the more inhospitable places to go during the season and if Carolina isn’t up for the challenge, it’s going to be a long afternoon.
