Carolina Panthers wide receiver D.J. Moore was not named among the top-32 wide receivers heading into the 2021 season by Pro Football Focus.

It seems the disrespect thrown D.J. Moore’s way knows absolutely no bounds.

The Carolina Panthers wide receiver continuously gets overlooked for what he is, which is one of the NFL’s best young players at the position. Moore is coming off his second consecutive 1,000-yard season despite an obvious lack of chemistry with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who didn’t connect with the former first-round pick nearly enough on open looks that contributed to the team moving on from him after a solitary season under center.

It’s not like Moore had any real consistency from the quarterback spot in 2019, either. A combination of an injured Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, and rookie Will Grier isn’t exactly a wideout’s dream by any stretch of the imagination, so for the player to achieve four figures in only his second year is a further testament to what an outstanding talent he is.

Hopefully, the acquisition of Sam Darnold from the New York Jets can provide some stability to the most important position on the field. Nobody will benefit from this more than Moore, who had his fifth-year option picked up as expected and could achieve even greater heights if his new signal-caller makes a better go of things in a progressive environment.

Despite Moore’s credentials being there for all to see, the lack of credit he receives from the national media is extraordinary. The latest example of this came from Pro Football Focus and their writer Anthony Treash.

Picking his top-32 wide receivers entering the 2021 season, Treash left Moore off the list entirely.

D.J. Moore can make disrespect count for the Carolina Panthers in 2021.

Now, expecting Moore to be a top-five wide receiver with the talent across the league may have been pushing it, for now at least. But for him not to be recognized as one of the 32 best is outrageous.

All this man does is make plays and has the production to prove it. Moore’s route-running has improved dramatically, his hands are assured, and the potential to break off big yardage is evident every time he touches the ball.

This won’t have gone unnoticed by Moore, of that there is little doubt.

These slights on his play can be used in a positive fashion that could benefit the Panthers considerably next season and beyond. So it’s going to be a case of how much longer he can be ignored given the Maryland product’s numbers of late.

Even though he remains overlooked by most in the media, Moore’s importance to Carolina’s chances of progression in 2021 is undisputed. His prolific partnership with Robby Anderson – who also didn’t make the list – was among the NFL’s best in 2020 and with Christian McCaffrey set for a full return to health, the prospect of even better production next time around is entirely possible.

We live in an area of hot takes and PFF is a large part of that. One only had to see their claim that Tyreek Hill was the league’s greatest-ever deep threat – disregarding the great Randy Moss – to see that.

But this is not an isolated incident. Moore constantly gets underappreciated to a point where one wonders just what the agenda is where the player is concerned.

All Moore can do is keep producing the goods on the field and everything else should fall into place, no matter what the current wrong perception seems to be.
