How sweet it will be to see Bank of America Stadium rocking in 2021
By Dean Jones
After a miserable 12 months, it will be fantastic to see Bank of America Stadium rocking when the Carolina Panthers take the field in 2021.
It’s been a long 12 months and more.
But the good times for loyal fans of the Carolina Panthers are now returning.
With COVID-19 restrictions lifted almost simultaneously across the country recently – thanks in no small part to a rapid vaccine rollout – the 2021 season should go back to some semblance of normality.
This is great news for supporters across the country who were unable to watch games from the stands last season, with the Panthers having to adjust their offseason program accordingly to prevent the risk of infection.
This is something the team did incredibly well.
There was only one real coronavirus scare involving players during the campaign. This came when roster members met away from the facility during their Week 13 bye, so things could not have been much safer in Carolina.
Thankfully, the Panthers won’t have to worry about such matters next season.
The first bit of good news published by the team on Monday was confirmation that they will be returning to Spartanburg for their annual training camp at Wofford College following a year away.
Carolina opted to train within the confines of Bank of America Stadium last summer as COVID-19 fears gripped the country. So this is yet another positive move that has already generated a substantial amount of excitement.
Training camp ahead of the 2021 season will begin on July 27 and run through August.
The Panthers have three preseason games during this time against the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers, so to say this is a crucial period of preparation before Carolina’s home opener with the New York Jets would be an understatement.
But wait, there’s more.
Carolina Panthers will have capacity crowds at Bank of America Stadium in 2021.
No sooner had the Wofford return been announced, Tepper Sports & Entertainment president Tom Glick sent out a statement with the news Bank of America Stadium will be at full capacity in 2021 after almost all social distancing measures were lifted by North Carolina governor, Roy Cooper.
"“We are committed to delivering an enjoyable and safe environment. This last year has been a challenging and disruptive year. It’s also led us to create smart and innovative solutions to meet the challenges that we all face, and that’s been true here at Bank of America Stadium. Many of the new features that the fans saw that attended games in 2020 in a limited capacity will be back and part of our normal operating procedure.”"
How sweet it will be to see The Bank rocking once again.
Football without fans just wasn’t the same. But it’s much more than what happens over four quarters on the gridiron.
It’s the nervous anticipation getting ready, the pre-game tailgate, the fun that follows, walking up to the stadium knowing kickoff isn’t too far away and walking up those steps to see BoA in all its wonderful glory.
Nothing beats it.
And now it’s back.
This could make a massive difference to the Panthers, especially defensively.
Having a noisy home crowd can put opposing offense off their calls and get them on the back foot early This has the potential to do great things for Phil Snow’s unit with the talent at their disposal.
Going to games is something nobody will ever take for granted again. The last year has proven that beyond all doubt.
However, after so much uncertainty, heartache, and loss. There is now hope.
At the very least, that’s all fans deserve at this point in time and hopefully, the Panthers can raise their game accordingly when it matters most.
