Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR

To say Robby Anderson surged past preseason expectations following his arrival in free agency is the biggest of understatements. The wide receiver went over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career and developed a prolific tandem with D.J. Moore that was among the league’s best in 2020.

What comes next for Anderson will be equally as important.

He’s heading into a contract year and considering the Carolina Panthers drafted Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith for additional options, the pressure will be on the former Temple star to put up some similar numbers next time around.

Whether Anderson can do this or not remains to be seen.

His production subsided a little bit as the campaign went on once teams focused more attention on limiting his influence. So it’s going to take another offseason of adjustment to maintain his status within the organization.

Another solid year from Anderson would put the player in a strong bargaining position on his next contract. Considering the Panthers also have to pay Moore at some stage over the next two years, much will depend on his asking price and whether it’s in the ball-park Carolina wants to stump up.

It will be interesting to see how Anderson fares in Year 2 with the Panthers. There is also a tremendous amount riding on it.
