4 pros and cons to the Carolina Panthers trading Robby Anderson
By Dean Jones
Robby Anderson’s relationship with Sam Darnold
The Carolina Panthers will only go as far as Sam Darnold takes them in 2021. Although they have a loaded roster full of young, exciting talent, if their new quarterback can’t make the most out of his second chance to become a reliable starter, it’s going to hamper their chances considerably.
Darnold has a previous relationship with Robby Anderson from their time together on the New York Jets. The pair developed eye-catching chemistry that resulted in plenty of memorable highlights and it was clear the signal-caller missed his most dependable weapon in the passing game last season.
Moving Anderson before the trade deadline will be a blow for Darnold despite there being a number of other prominent receivers he can call upon.
There is nothing like linking up with a familiar face – although the wideout wasn’t anywhere to be seen during OTAs – so if his former No. 1 option isn’t around, it has the potential to throw a spanner in the works.
Whether this rumor comes to anything more remains to be seen.
However, one of the biggest factors to consider before pulling the trigger is the effect this would have on Darnold becoming the stable presence under center the Panthers have been looking for.
