Even though the Carolina Panthers added some quality depth to their offensive line, the team could still use another starting guard. They could potentially fix this issue by calling up a familiar face.

Trai Turner spent six seasons in Carolina before being traded to the Los Angeles Chargers for Russell Okung.

While he was with the Panthers, Turner managed to start in 80 games – starting a total of 84. Turner also played in every game he was available for the Chargers last season.

Injuries kept Turner out for part of the 2020 season with the Chargers. He’s had a lengthy period of time to recover, so he could be a good addition to a team if he manages to stay healthy.

Not to mention, Turner also is able to make a strong impact in the run game that was evident during his time in Carolina.

The only thing that makes Turner expendable are penalties.

Over his career, Turner has been called for 33 infringements – 11 holding and 11 offside penalties. If the five-time Pro Bowler could avoid these, it would allow him to help teams better.

A veteran like Turner does not deserve to sit on the bench or be a free agent. The Panthers could easily get him for a good price since he spent a lot of his career with Carolina.
