Which cuts could the Carolina Panthers make before the 2021 season that would not surprise anybody?

This is always a nervous time of year for veterans right on the fringes. The Carolina Panthers have plenty of players that fit into this category and opinions are already being formed in regards to their respective futures on the roster.

There continues to be a changing of the guard in Carolina, with the organization working hard during the offseason to put the right sort of pieces in place that might see them challenging for a postseason spot if everything clicks during the upcoming campaign.

Whether this will bring an instant turnaround after two straight 5-11 seasons is up for debate. But team owner David Tepper will want to start seeing some real growth after spending a substantial amount getting people in positions of power he really wants.

Training camp is going to reveal a lot with this group. The intensity is sure to be high once again and something Matt Rhule demands from every practice, with the return of preseason games something else that could tip the scales one way or another.

With this in mind, here are four cuts the Panthers could make that would surprise nobody before their Week 1 opener against the New York Jets.

Kenny Robinson – Carolina Panthers S

There was some real hope that Kenny Robinson could become a productive NFL starter after taking an unusual route to the next level. The safety was one of the XFL’s stars before they disbanded and obviously, the Panthers saw some potential in the player when they selected him in the fifth round last year.

What came next wasn’t what the player or Carolina hoped. Robinson struggled to make his presence felt in the pros and was even released by the Panthers during the season before coming back onto their practice squad.

Robinson gets one more chance to impress in the coming weeks, so much will depend on how much progress he can demonstrate to the coaching staff. However, it wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world to see the organization cut their losses and remove him from the picture entirely.
