4 Panthers cuts before the 2021 season that would surprise no one

Ishmael Hyman – Carolina Panthers WR
Even though the Carolina Panthers let Curtis Samuel sign for the Washington Football Team in free agency, they still have an embarrassment of riches to call upon in the passing game.
This was further bolstered by the arrivals of David Moore, Terrace Marshall Jr., Micah Simon, and Shi Smith this offseason, with other rotational pieces also coming back for another go-around.
One such individual is Ishmael Hyman, who did see some brief time on the field in 2020 and was given a reserve/futures contract following the campaign.
It should give the former James Madison star a shot at making the roster or practice squad once again this summer. But it’s hard to look at the challenge and not think things look bleak for the player.
Hyman has struggled to make an NFL team his home after starting his journey on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played two games and was targeted four times.
Had there been a few more departures from this positional group, things might be different.
However, that was simply not the case and the wideout has his work cut out.
It’s going to take a significant effort from Hyman to surge his way up the depth chart. Considering the young, athletic players also vying for their fair share of targets, his potential release might be something even he is expecting when it’s all said and done.
