Carolina Panthers trade offer No. 1

The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly holding out for a first-round pick from any team looking to acquire Julio Jones. However, since the player himself declared he was moving on when Shannon Sharpe gave him a call on FOX Sports’ Undisputed, they might have to settle for something a little less.

If the Carolina Panthers were hypothetically intent on making an offer for Jones, they’d have to give up much more than an organization that wasn’t in the same division.

Atlanta would be extremely reluctant to send Jones to Carolina, which could make all the difference as quarterback Sam Darnold looks to make a better go of things in a different environment.

That being said, if the Panthers were to offer their first-round selection next year and a Day 2 pick in 2023, then a discussion would need to take place regardless of which team made the offer.

Jones is 32 years old and clearly heading into the twilight of his career. There aren’t many players at the position that would be considered an upgrade on the former Alabama star when healthy, but this is a lot of capital to give up.

The Panthers have proven to be bold in their decision-making process this offseason. Giving up two selections for a potential shot at Jones would definitely continue this trend, however unlikely it may be.
