4 biggest losers of the Carolina Panthers 2021 offseason so far

Bravvion Roy – Carolina Panthers DT
There were plenty of encouraging elements to Bravvion Roy’s production as a rookie.
The Carolina Panthers got far more than they bargained for with the sixth-round pick and considering the team released both Kawann Short and Zach Kerr ahead of time, the former Baylor star was tipped by many to occupy a starting role opposite Derrick Brown in 2021.
That is not the case now.
Carolina was obviously going to bring in additional reinforcements, which they did during both free agency and the 2021 NFL Draft.
DaQuan Jones was acquired in free agency to boost Carolina’s run defense, with the team also drafting Daviyon Nixon and Phil Hoskins during the NFL Draft to further enhance their options next season.
It would be a surprise to see Roy fall out of the rotation entirely.
But he now faces a real fight for reps judging by the quality brought into the organization.
Roy showed real glimpses of promise in 2020, even though his conditioning let him down at certain stages against bigger and more dominant offensive linemen at the next level.
That being said, Matt Rhule worked with the player in college and thought enough of the player to give him some meaningful time on the field in Year 1 of his professional career, so it’s a little too soon to be writing off his chances just yet.
