Dennis Daley – Carolina Panthers OG

The case surrounding Dennis Daley is a curious one.

He was in contention for a starting spot before getting injured prior to the Carolina Panthers’ season opener in 2020 and although he did start upon his return, the offensive lineman wasn’t involved much after that.

This has left many questioning just what Daley’s future in Carolina will be.

And there were further doubts cast with the Panthers’ offseason moves.

Cam Erving and Pat Elflein were brought in during free agency. John Miller was re-signed to a one-year deal, Deonte Brown joined the Panthers as a sixth-round pick, and there is plenty of hope surrounding undrafted free-agent David Moore’s chances of making a contribution somewhere down the line.

Now while Erving and Elflein haven’t exactly thrived in recent seasons, Daley could now be below them on the depth chart judging by what Carolina agreed to pay them this spring.

The Panthers will give Daley a chance to force his way into a prominent role at training camp. Outside of Taylor Moton and Matt Paradis, there appears plenty of places up for grabs even if Carolina ends up starting rookie Brady Christensen at left tackle.

What comes next will be ultimately down to Daley. He will need to take on this challenge head-on and his career in Carolina depends on it.
