Jaycee Horn – Carolina Panthers CB

Arriving at the next level can be a daunting proposition for an incoming college recruit. They tend to go through a crash course in what it takes to thrive in a professional environment, with many taking some time to make the adjustments needed to make a go of things from the outset.

The Carolina Panthers aren’t going to have that problem with cornerback Jaycee Horn, who was selected No. 8 overall by the organization during the 2021 NFL Draft. His knowledge of the NFL coming from a father who enjoyed a Pro Bowl career has served him well during the early part of team activities, leaving plenty of reasons to be encouraged about his chances in the short and long term.

Although the temptation to select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was obviously there, Horn fills a huge need. Providing he hits the ground running, his partnership with Donte Jackson could make all the difference for a defense that is expected to make some substantial strides in 2021.

Horn’s mentality is something that really sets him apart.

He isn’t afraid of the big occasion and his time at South Carolina saw him shut down some of college football’s most dynamic weapons in the passing game with ease.

His physicality, length, aggressiveness, and athleticism will be a tremendous asset to call upon throughout the campaign. Perhaps more telling will be how this rubs off on other members of the roster, which will be equally as important.
