Letting Efe Obada walk

In 2017, the Carolina Panthers found a gem in Efe Obada. He slowly worked up the ranks of the organization, exceeding expectations in 2020 before the team surprisingly let him walk this spring.

Obada tallied up 5.5 sacks for the Panthers’ defense last season. He was a rotational piece that produced every time he touched the field.

Every play Obada hustled, and it shows in his tape.

He had an amazing play against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. Obada almost secured a scoop and score after being tackled by wide receiver Jerry Jeudy inside the five-yard line after a strip-sack from Jeremy Chinn that shifted momentum at the time.

The Panthers brought in plenty of talent and depth at the defensive line position, but Obada showed a lot of promise in his last year in Carolina. His veteran knowledge could have been of use within a young roster that will be learning as they go once again.

Everyone also loved his story on how he came to the United States and played football in the NFL. He was a fan favorite and a monster on the field.

Obada signed with the Buffalo Bills on March 24. No surprise considering the connections between the two teams currently.

The Panthers signed a lot of defensive line talent this offseason, but not signing Obada could be a huge mistake by the team.
