Micah Simon – Carolina Panthers WR

General manager Scott Fitterer moved quickly to sign Micah Simon following his blistering performance at BYU‘s pro day. The wide receiver electrified those in attendance with a sublime blend of ball skills and explosiveness, which was all the Carolina Panthers needed to see to bring him on board.

Getting an opportunity was step one for Simon in pursuit of forging a successful career in the NFL.

What transpires in the weeks and months to come will be an even greater challenge.

Simon now has to convince the coaching staff he is worth keeping around when the time comes to select the 53-man roster and practice squad. That will be easier said than done considering the weapons at Carolina’s disposal despite Curtis Samuel joining the Washington Football Team in free agency.

Although the chances of Simon winning a roster spot appear slim at this juncture. It’s a little too soon to be writing him off just yet.

The player made a successful transition from a defensive back to an offensive playmaker over his final three seasons with the Cougars. But at least from the outside looking in, he might have his work cut out in gaining a role within Joe Brady’s dynamic scheme.
