Carolina Panthers trade offer No. 2

Much will depend on the timing of this sort of offer. The Carolina Panthers are going to give Sam Darnold a shot of making the position his own following his trade, but the simple fact of the matter is players with the talent of Deshaun Watson just don’t become available every day.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and there aren’t many teams in the league that wouldn’t consider Watson an upgrade on anything they currently have under center.

Carolina also falls into this category despite landing Darnold this offseason and providing these character concerns can be alleviated, then a queue of willing suitors would be more than willing to take on the former first-round pick.

If the Panthers decide to get back involved, then a first-round pick, a second-rounder in 2023, and Robby Anderson might tip the scales in their favor.

The wide receiver is out of contract in 2022 and another season of outstanding production would almost certainly price him out of an extension with D.J. Moore, Taylor Moton, and Donte Jackson also set for contract extensions sooner rather than later.

This takes away a dynamic weapon, but the Panthers brought in Shi Smith, Terrace Marshall Jr., and David Moore this offseason to further strengthen their options.

Losing Anderson is a tough choice, but rather include him in something like this than letting the former Temple star walk for nothing next spring.
