5 Panthers players whose stock rose at mandatory minicamp in 2021

Both days of mandatory minicamp saw the defense showcase their immense potential. This is a group that could be the catalyst behind the Carolina Panthers making some positive strides forward when competitive action gets underway, which is the hallmark behind every playoff-contending team across the league.
One notable standout according to those in attendance was DaQuan Jones. The defensive tackle joined late in free agency from the Tennessee Titans and hasn’t taken long to integrate himself within the locker room and into the scheme.
Jones formed a formidable wall alongside Derrick Brown during drills. It would be a shock if this wasn’t the starting interior tandem in Week 1 against the New York Jets and there is a lot to be encouraged about the way each player’s skillset complements the other.
The Panthers need to improve their run defense next season. This is an area where Jones thrives and if Brown can also progress in this key area as a sophomore, the sky is the limit.
Obviously, the pads haven’t gone on yet.
But the early signs are incredibly encouraging.
Of all the moves made by Carolina in free agency, Jones could be one of the best when it’s all said and done. There is now an abundance of playmakers on the defensive line and having the former Penn State star clogging up space is going to do wonders for the likes of Brian Burns and Hasson Reddick.
