4 Panthers players who could boost their trade value in 2021
By Dean Jones
Robby Anderson – Carolina Panthers WR
Although Robby Anderson is out of contract in 2022, there are some avenues the Carolina Panthers could explore if they want to get something in return for a player who might leave for nothing.
Anderson looked the part after freeing himself from the New York Jets in 2020. His ability to get open quickly and impact the game all over the field was a pleasant surprise, resulting in the wide receiver going over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
Considering the need to pay established players like Taylor Moton, D.J. Moore, and Donte Jackson sooner rather than later, it would be a huge shock if the Panthers put together the necessary resources to keep Anderson on the books.
This would be almost impossible if the former Temple star managed to increase his numbers further next time around.
There were rumors that Carolina shopped Anderson during the 2021 NFL Draft, according to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com. It certainly makes sense considering they drafted Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith, but having him on the team does far more good than harm.
If Anderson takes another leap forward in 2021, then the Panthers are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Placing a tender on the wideout or agreeing to a sign and trade with a team who is intent on bringing the player to their organization might be enough for Carolina to get some compensation.
