The Carolina Panthers are hoping to get back to the playoffs for the first time in four years this season, but what are some things that could go wrong?

The Carolina Panthers haven’t made the playoffs since 2017. With some headline-worthy moves made this offseason, including the addition of quarterback Sam Darnold, while also getting a healthy Christian McCaffrey back, fans are hoping 2021 is the year they finally return to the postseason.

However, just as it is for every team, unforeseen circumstances can set an organization back or end up being a disappointment for a number of different reasons.

Unfortunately, the Panthers have flattered to deceive more often than not over the last few years and ever since having a record-breaking 15-1 season in 2015, things just haven’t been the same in Carolina.

While there is optimism entering the new year with general manager Scott Fitterer taking over the front office, head coach Matt Rhule entering his second year, and the NFC South looking wide open behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not all concerns about this Panthers roster were addressed this offseason.

The positives vary from the addition of rookie Jaycee Horn, a rebuilt defensive line, offensive coordinator Joe Brady staying for a second year, and many more.

But here is a look at five things that could go wrong for Carolina during what is sure to be yet another campaign for everyone associated with the franchise.
