What are some of the more underrated moves made by the Carolina Panthers during an intriguing 2021 offseason for the organization?

It was hard to keep up with the number of moves made by the Carolina Panthers this offseason.

Whether it was player comings and goings in free agency, a hive of trade activity during the NFL Draft, or an aggressive search for a new quarterback, those in power left no stone unturned in an attempt to get the organization moving in the right direction once again.

The Panthers did show signs of life in 2020 before the same old problems left them with a 5-11 record for the second straight year. This solid foundation needs to become much more in 2021 and if things don’t pan out as expected, the pressure will be well and truly on Matt Rhule and his roster as a result.

High stakes for all involved. And much will obviously depend on whether their gamble to acquire Sam Darnold from the New York Jets pays off as they hope.

With this in mind, here are the five most underrated moves made by the Panthers during the 2021 offseason period so far.

Carolina Panthers signed UDFA David Moore

It didn’t take long for the Panthers to pick up David Moore in undrafted free agency. Carolina’s coaching staff worked closely with the prospect at the 2021 Senior Bowl and even though he’s a little short for an interior offensive lineman, his technique, length, and aggressiveness mean there is plenty to work with.

Moore enjoyed a standout career at Grambling State, something he can build on at the next level providing there isn’t much in the way of responsibility on his shoulders immediately. The Panthers do have some questions to answer on their protection, but they should have enough room on the roster for this sort of development project.

There is a lot of work ahead of Moore. But this could be a shrewd bit of business by the Panthers when it’s all said and done.
